Academic Upgrading Program – 2013

December 5, 2012

Hello everyone:

Please be advised that starting on January 07/13, the Academic Upgrading Program at Newmarket and Vaughan will be moving to a 15 week block structure such that current and new students will be monitored for progress and attendance during that time period. At the end of April 2013 all students will be recommended as a result of a staff progress review meeting as to whether they are eligible to continue for the next 15 week block to end in mid-August 2013 based on their progress, attendance and achievement of Miletones.

We have had to move to this mode of delivery to accommodate a new MTCU (Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities) funding model that is now based on student completion of Milestones and overall progress.

I am hoping by introducing this mode of delivery that achievement of your goals will be supported and enhanced as you move forward and also allow us to continue offering the Academic Upgrading program tuition free.

I am also wishing you a wonderful holiday season and best wishes in 2013.

Regards,

Elise

Math Assignment – Due Dec 6th – Newmarket & Vaughan

December 3, 2012

Math Students

It’s time to check your progress.  Each month I ask that you download a spreadsheet – enter some data about when you started and how much you have completed and also set some goals for the completion of the course you are currently in.

Below are instructions on how to complete the assignment.  If you have any questions please feel free to email me at bill.giannos@senecacollege.ca.  You can complete the assignment at home or in class this week.  Thank you.

Please go the Academic Upgrading website – http://www.aaupnv.wordpress.com

On the right hand side of the site you should see a BOX with GET FILES as the title.

Underneath GET FILES there are 3 folders – please click on HOW LONG

Inside HOW LONG are two Excel spreadsheets – GED students please download the GED version and the Academic Upgrading students please download the AU version.

Once you have downloaded them please follow the instructions on each spreadsheet.

Fill out the spreadsheets and print two copies, one for you and one for me.

Please hand in your spreadsheet by Thursday December  6th.

If you have any trouble downloading or filling out the spreadsheet please let me know.

If you are unable to come in to class another option is to email your completed spreadsheet to me at:  bill.giannos@senecacollege.ca

Regards

Bill
